We (the U S) don't have any coal burning ships anymore. Maybe in the 1800s. Closest thing to a "stoker" would be a Boilerman (BT). Besides Popeye isn't a real sailor. He's a womanizer. Just ask Sweetpea and Bluto.

Yeah, but like many sailors…a woman in every port…except Singapore, they had Bugis Street.
Yes, but given the times, they were very funny, even if being just a tad racist.
