i raise rottweiler dogs. i just traded a 12 week old registered akc pup for a new model 92FS beretta 9mm automatic pistol. alunimum frame and stainless steel slide in the box with 2 10 round clips and extra finger grip hogue grips.
my price for the pup was 500 dollars. the pistol is in perfect condition.
i know very little about semo auto pistols but i know beretta is a great brand. i dont like the 9mm much as a defense round personally but the pistol is in such great condition it seemed a fair trade to me.
any advice or suggestions welcomed.

I'm no expert, but I'd say, Yeah, you done good!
Ultimately, the only judge is yourself. If you think you got a good deal, you did, regardless.
If both of you think you got a good deal, what more can you ask?
Enjoy it. If you miss the pup, name the gun Rover!

Yep that was a fair deal. Keep an eye out for feeding problems. The installation of many aftermarket grips effect the feeding from the clip for some reason in the 92's. If the Hogue grips work that's fine but if you start having feeding problems put a set of factory grips on it. Also pick up a couple of 15 round clips for it. They are reasonable right now.
I carried a 92 for over 10 years and never noticed a problem with a 9mm for defense or its effectiveness when used in the real world.

Neat trade, First time I heard a dog being traded for a gun.
In my opinon the 9mm gets a bad name from the fact the Military is forced to use FMJ ball ammo, no reason a 9mm with a good JHP wouldnt be good for a defensive round.
PS how are the Rottweilers for you ?? I know they got a bad name but I've never seen one attack someone. And the ones I've dealt with have been nice dogs after you let them get to know you

rotts are great dogs and the only issues i have is not with them but with owner. they were bred to be strong fast herd dogs. people try to make them mean as gaurd dogs or roughhoiuse with them way to much.
you roughhouse with any dog and in the end they will bite someone.
the problem is bad owner do not train there rotts to be friendly. they either want a mean ole gaurd dog which will kill full grown men or they play rough with them as pups and get them to agressive. one will grab a kid to play with and when the kid struggles the dog thinks oh boy your playing. this would be ok except the dog ends up killing kids.
you rough house with one of my dogs or tell it to sic em i will run you off my property and tell you never to return.

Spacedone,
Thats what I figured as well. Never heard of them attacking someone I knew so I figured it must be the owners not the dogs themselves.

I would say that was a fair even trade.
I bought a bretta 9.mm 92FS, a couple of years ago, in the box with two 10 round clips. was about $520.00. I know it was just over $500.00.
and I checked not too long ago, and the prices are not going down any. lol.
I was hopeing to get another one to go shooting with a friend. then we could shoot at the same time.
I realy like my bretta 9.mm. very good gun, it has good penatration.
reloading full metal jackets, hollow points work very good.
wall mart has the amo so cheap, I do think you can buy them cheaper than you could make them . but I like making my own.
factory clips are the best way to go. I got a cheap after market 15 round clip , it worked ok for a while, but then start jamming. the last bullet would not feed threw. I did find the problem, I did some remodification to the after market clip and it works fine now.
its worth the money to buy a good clip factory made for beretta 9.mm.
hope you like your new 9.mm. all you need to do now is go out and shoot a few thousand rounds threw it.

Well the 20 round clips are for the Storm and were not intended for the 92 but I recon they will feed just as well in the 92 as they do in the Storm.
