The price of a bag of shot ???

With the commodities market getting back down, I thought I’d check out the price of lead and see how it’s doing in relation to a bag of shot.

When I checked today a ton of lead was $1,040. As a little reminder it was over $4100 a ton just over a year ago. It has been on a down ward ride since then. With the usual ups and downs along the way.

So has anyone bought a bag of shot lately ? What did you pay ?

The local gun shop is selling 25 lbs of lead shot for $32.00. It was over $40.00 a few months ago. All the best...

We normally receive shot by the ton at the store where I work. Margins are slim. Our last ton sold for $49 per 25lb bag, however, the ton that is arriving tomorrow will cost us $34 a bag which we will sell for $39.

All of which is to say you can make a small fortune in the gun business IF you start with a large one.

I drove up to Mexico MO a week or so ago and dropped in to Graf's storefront. On my way in I tripped over a pallet of lead shot that was retailing at $25/bag. I rather suspect they were getting rid of an overstock, but I decided to assist them in any way I could. On the way out I purchased three bags which my son carried out to the truck. That ought to hold me for a while. If nothing else, I have something to add some ballast to the Lead Sled...

I can't remember the last time I bought shot...I was lucky enough to be given over 100 kg (220 lb) of #4, #7.5 and #9 shot.
