Pork, so sinful but so tasty!

Have always wanted to hunt them pigs, heard they were quite tastey. Also heard that gator was tasty, but I guess that must be a salty in the photo above if it was in Oz. How do they taste? Are they protected, or is there an open season on those bad boys. Sure would like to have a pair of boots made out of the skin.
One thing a new old shooter might want to try is dry firing and snap shooting. Practice for 15 minutes or so every day if you can, if 15 minutes is not possible just pick up your rifle at random while in the house and aim at a spot on the telephone pole outside the house through the window. Dry firing is a time tested proven method to improve a shooter. If you can get to the range bring your 22LR and shoot that in all positions. Mucho cheaper than shooting the ole 30 cal.

In Florida there is no season for wild boar and no limits.
Gators, on the other hand, not only have a very time limited season, the state has a limited number of licenses that is always over subscribed. This results in the state holding a lottery for them.
Hunting gators is quite different than boars. Typically you go out in a small boat at night. Shining a flashlight out on the water reflects off their retinas. Sometimes you shine a light and see hundreds of eyes staring back at you.
The weapon of choice is called a bang-stick, a long rod with a shotgun shell mounted on the end along with a firing mechanism. To take your gator, you quietly move up to where they're lying and touch the bang-stick to the back of their head. MOA accuracy is not required.

Croc is beautiful meat mate....very tasty and good eating. It is quite readily available out here (from the farms, not the wild) but is expensive at around $36 a kilogram. I would imagine that gator would taste very similar.
Unfortunately croc hunting is not allowed in Australia. They have croc farms where they harvest the crocs, but they are pretty strictly controlled. Croc leather is good leather, but is very expensive.
Cheers, Vince

I should have went to be instead of checking out what kinda jabbering was going on. Now I'm mighty thirsty and have this strange urge for a big piece of schnitzel. Looks like I'll have breakfast before I go to bed.
Welcome dj! Watch them hogs I think they have pure evil running through their veins. Get to the range as much as possible and you will have no problems at all. The more you shoot the better you become. As a side effect shooting is great therapy.
Good luck, shoot straight, and shoot often!!!!!!!!
