Welcome tackdriver.
If you look on the Database site you will find 264 loads. I do not own a 264 but I do own a couple 6.5x06 guns and hunt with two brothers that both use 264 post 64 Win guns. All three of us use H-4831 as our powder.

Seems like they are using 63 gr and are running close to 3200 fps. Start at 59 grains and work up at .5 increments. I like the 140 Hornady Interloc for accuracy.

Best of luck,
Ed

tackdriver, I've been using one of these for years and have settled on the Sierra GameKing (140gr.) and although I have used more powder than I do now, have settled on 61.0 gr. of H-4831 ahead of a Fed. 215 primer. Still am getting 3140 fps. and longer case life with less split necks. I have a 26" barrel on mine (Douglas) on Win. M-70 action. Love that gun and have used it for everything.

The 264 Win mag is one of the few cartridges that can use powders even slower than the 4831's.
My preference is the now discontinued Hodgdon 870 or the currently available Accurate Arms 8700 powder.
Reloder 25 and IMR 7828 would also be good choices.
Do I have a good load? Yes, I do- for my rifle Smile What's a good load in your rifle is something you have to find out for yourself- every rifle is different, has it's own preferences.

I experimented with several 140 gr slugs with H870, H570 and H4831 before trying Nodsler 125 gr partitions and H4831, 63grs. The noslers did the trick sub MOA groups out of a sporter, Winchester M70 classic. They hit with authority!

I use to have a 264 mod 70 it was a fine shooter. I shot 60 grains of IMR4350 pushing the 120gr Nosler B-T and it shot sub-moa. I never tried that recipe on deer though. I never worked with it long enough to get a good 140gr load.

I noticed alot of the loads on the database are using a little bit more powder than the reloading manuals.

Loads are different for every gun, start low and work up. If you have a tighter bore your max load will be less powder, but might be the same velocity. Always check a load on the web against published data by a Mfg.
